I took this picture last month. It’s a good representation of the way this year has been: a mix of both sunshine and snow.

Remember the little puppies? They are growing up.

They are just too cute.

Here’s a photo from my trip to Eden. A local gift shop was completely buried by snow.

And here’s the view from outside the shop door. I love the pattern made in the snow by the roof.

I don’t typically watch award shows, but I stumbled on this speech by Daniel Day-Lewis during a Youtube visit. The speech itself starts about 2:00 into the clip.

Now that’s a tribute. My favorite part is this (click and scroll over the blank space after you’ve watched the clip—it’s better when you hear it first): “It’s always been the work of other actors, and there are many actors in this room tonight, including my fellow nominees, who’ve given me that sense of regeneration. And . . . Heath Ledger gave it to me.”

Absolutely beautiful.

This isn’t a photo, but it is a commercial that always makes me laugh because the ending isn’t what you expect. The sound gets a little loud, and it’s probably best not to watch this at work. Still, hope it makes you smile.

I posted some time ago about my new desk, so I thought I’d post a photo of my writing nook.

I love the built-in bookcases on the side of the desk. There’s room for my research books with plenty of room to expand.

Someday I hope to post a picture of the week that doesn’t involve snow. Unfortunately, this is my world right now.

It looks like I’m backing out in this photo, but the truth is, my car got stuck. Luckily, some of my neighbors helped me get out. After work I shoveled the driveway . . . with some help.

I’m so sick of snow.

That part of the saying certainly applies to me. No matter what I do, I seem to find a curl that wants to do its own thing. Case in point: this week’s photo of the week.

My, how they’ve grown. On Christmas Eve, they looked like this. Last week, they looked like this.

I brought them toy bones that say Bite Me on the outside.
